Our story begins at the end of the First World War in the industrial area of Monza. The Società Accomandataria Cooperativa Officine Meccaniche Monzesi company dates back to 1918 and includes a mechanical machining program for third parties. The company is breaking new ground and starting with the design and construction of machine tools, drills, lathes, milling machines, special purpose machines and above all centerless grinding machines.

The development and production of the first centerless grinding machine model named “N ° 0” on behalf of Tavolazzi & Fumagalli goes back to the 1920s, followed by “N ° 1”, whose production was continued on behalf of third parties until 1953.

1939 is a special year because it features technical designer Giovanni Salvioni in the scene of Officine Meccaniche Monzesi, who will later prove to be crucial to the future of the company.

In 1953, a new grinding machine model called “N ° 0” is proposed. From this moment on, apart from design and construction, the brand Officine Meccaniche Monzesi will also be marketed.

In 1962, Marco Rossi sells the company to Giovanni Salvioni himself and to Stefano Sala, from which Officine Monzesi S.n.c. emerges, that comes out as S.a.s. until 1973, the year in which Sala withdraws from his partner in favor of the sons of Salvioni, Gianluigi and Paolo.

The company was originally founded in 1882 for the manufacture of scissors by a descendant of the Visconti family. Officine Meccaniche Viotto (Ing. VIsconti OTTOrino) was founded in 1965 from the department of cutlery repair and maintenance for the construction of automatic grinding machines for scissors and knife blades. At the beginning of the seventies, the production of double disc grinding machines with opposing grinding wheels began.

In 1989, when Giovanni Salvioni passed away, his sons Angela, Gianluigi and Paolo took over the management of the company.

Monza Corporation is founded for marketing and customer service support in America, which together with Officine Monzesi for the production of centerless grinders, O.M. Monvibro for automatic locking systems and Officine Meccaniche Viotto for the construction of double disc grinding machines, forms a solid industrial group.

The company is moving to its new headquarters in Nova Milanese.

With the entry of Piero Pessina, the current majority shareholder, Officine Monzesi and Viotto become two divisions under the same brand in 2014. Monzesi is born, the evolution of experience.

In 2015, the new headquarters of Monzesi Group North America will be inaugurated in Pine Brook, New Jersey. It will be a strategic step of great importance for sales, marketing and service of machines installed throughout America.

With the opening of a marketing and service center in Egypt, Monzesi will reach another important milestone in 2016 on the way to international success. The operation, which is currently under development and consolidation, aims to build lasting productive relationships that will further strengthen Monzesi’s presence in North African territory.

Monzesi joins the elite group Borsa Italiana, whose aim is to train and support companies that wish to develop their organizational and technical skills.

The company’s strong commitment to innovation combined with the great technical experience of all staff will lead Monzesi to introduce the new grinding machine lines in 2017: The Monza Century Edition and the new Viotto double disc grinding machines, in addition to depositing another patent for a universal charging system.

The commercial partnership between Monzesi and Steel Motion offers customers turnkey solutions for the grinding process that combine grinding machines and bar loading systems. This allows to offer a high quality service to clients, thanks to the perfect complement between the products and the strong expertise of the two manufacturers.

In the elegant setting of Villa Reale in Monza, Monzesi celebrates its first 100 years in the presence of customers, suppliers, partners and authorities such as the Egyptian consul in Milan.

Monzesi becomes part of the Innovative SMEs project promoted by MISE. Innovative SMEs represent an important nucleus of companies that contribute to the innovative development of the country through research, development and marketing of cutting-edge technological solutions.

In a completely online interactive event, the new Monza KZN is unveiled for the first time, a new chapter in the field of centerless grinding: extreme flexibility and customization, innovative design and continuous self-learning thanks to the adoption of Artificial Intelligence.

Monzesi announces the opening of the Chinese Sales & Service headquarters, in Guangzhou, China. The offices, located in a key industrial area in the southern region of the country, will represent an important global strategic point to allow the company to better serve the entire Asian market.

After joining the Elite collective in 2017, Monzesi receives also the official certification from the company. The certificate gives concrete evidence of the company’s growth path within the program, which today sees an international network of over 1,400 companies.

With the intent of boosting a culture aimed at continuous improvement of personnel and company processes, as well as the strong corporate vocation for research and development, Monzesi becomes part of the ComoNExT collective. ComoNExT’s objectives are to attract innovative companies, transfer innovation to the territory and encourage the development of new entrepreneurship thanks to the incubation of startups.

In order to support the company’s ambitious growth plans, and above all to do so in a sustainable way, Monzesi announced the change of their corporate structure to Monzesi S.p.A. Benefit Corporation. Therefore, their statute includes the intentions, which have always been supported by Monzesi, to create not only economic value but also a positive and measurable impact on their human capital, community and the environment.
